Calculating using gas percentages to set flow rates
« on: January 07, 2011, 05:22:05 AM »
Hi,

I am supplying algae with CO2 and the literature gives percentages of 5-15%, some articles also give flow rates. Please can you tell me how to work out flow rates and percentages of CO2 against air to replicate volumes in experiments?

Also some articles list 5-15% CO2 as percentage in solution, is there a way to work this out?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Tim

I assume the % is the CO2 content in an air-stream?

then I would assume the % to be volumetric and calculate what the total mixed-gas flow has to be to reach a net flow rate of CO2

Question :
my flow meters are  in ml/min. there are 2 gases that will be mixed  to-gathers and then will be release in  a column( fixed bed). would you mind telling  me how i  can calculate the mixed flow rate?
the gases are CO2 and He.
I appreciate
