Carbocation Test
« on: February 07, 2011, 05:13:38 PM »
In a lab sulfuric acid was used to perform something called a carbocation test for 2 solutions:

1 - benzhydrol in methanol
2 - benzophenone in methanol

The first one seemed to react a lot more vigorously - but what would be the reasoning behind this (how does this test work)?
