Automatic resonance structure generator?
« on: February 10, 2011, 05:15:11 PM »
Does anyone know of an iPad app (or any application or applet for any operating system) that (a) allows the user to draw a molecule (2D is fine), and (b) takes a correct molecule drawing and automatically generates all valid resonance structures associated with that molecule?

Here's one example of such an applet ( http://www.chemaxon.com/products/calculator-plugins/resonance/ ), but I'd prefer to have something that runs on my machine rather than a web-based applet like this one that requires network access to use.

Thanks in advance.

Stealth use of the iPad during an exam... hmm...

Somehow I don't see an iPad being used during an exam to be something that the proctor would fail to notice.

No, I want it to check my understanding. I'm always forgetting little things like formal charges et. al., and such a tool would, I think, improve my skills.
