Mixed problem - Density help
« on: February 12, 2011, 08:53:49 PM »
Household ammonia is 5% ammonia by mass and has a density of 1.006g/ml What volume of this solution must person choose to obtain 25.8 g of ammonia?

I know to find Vol. I must divide M/Density, but I am confused as to how this problem needs to be set up to solve

How about setting the volume as X first?

Hello again. You have mass of ammonia, percent by weight, and density of solution, to find volume of solution. It is true that you have to divide mass by density to get volume, but what are you referring to? The mass of what, and the density of what?
