Testing for "Carban ion"
« on: March 07, 2011, 12:44:09 AM »
Is there any testing procedure (qualitative or quantitative)available to check the carban ion?
I know that by usning methyliodide with carban ion it is possible to detect the extend of carban ion.
Is there any other methods/procedures available?
I have checked with the Michlers ketone reagent which is commonly used to detect the Grignard reagent formation.
It was not working well.
Thanks in advance!!!
