making levocarnitine into an injectable solution
« on: March 19, 2011, 04:15:54 PM »
okay....I hope that this is in the right part of the forum...maybe should be under citizen chem...however it relates to bio chem I think a little more.  I have not taken extensive chem classes otherwise I would more than likely be able to answer this on my own.  I'm sure I could figure out on my own but I would rather be 100% sure in the answer....

so here is what I'm working on levocarnitine or l-carnitine is an amino acid, in a liquid form it can be used for spot fat loss reduction when injected.  It can be purchased on line however it can get quite expensive.  Being a very frugile person I decided to try on my own.  I have purchased pharmaceutical grad l-carnitine....I thought it would be easy...mix it with distilled water and 1% benzyl alcohol for sterilization...filter and ready to be used.  But the PH is way low....so it needs to be raised to 6-6.5....of course I decided to use KOH.  However I'm not sure how many grams of KOH I should dilute per how many ml of water to make this experiment work.  I also want to make sure it's safe.

Any input or more questions would be appreciated.

I don't think it will be safe. Topic locked.
