Polarity of moleclues
« on: March 22, 2011, 04:01:50 AM »
Hey, guys.

Im having trouble determining which compound out of citric acid and ascorbic acid is more polar.

At the moment, I think citric acid is most polar because it has more polar groups on it compared to ascorbic acid.

having more polar functional groups does not always equate to a molecule or compound being "more polar."  The location and identity of the polar groups must be considered as well.
