Mass of solution
« on: March 24, 2011, 08:42:30 AM »
How do i calculate the mass of the solution if there is 5 grams of potassium thiocyanate in 51mL of water?

Is is mass/volume (5 / 51) = 0.0980 grams?

mass/volume

This is density. Keep in mind that when we say solution, it means solute+solvent.

So is the mass of solution just 51 grams + 5 grams?

Yes. Assuming the water's density as 1g/1ml.
