Aspen Hysys Amines
« on: March 25, 2011, 11:55:51 AM »
Hi,

IM modelling post combustion carbon capture in Hysys. My question relates to tray/murphree efficiencies...

Do I have to specify efficiencies or are these covered in the fluid package? The amine help file says

'The amines package incorporates a specialized stage efficiency model to permit simulation of columns on a real tray basis. The stage efficiency model calculates H2S and CO2 component stage efficiencies based on the tray dimensions given and the calculated internal tower conditions for both absorbers and strippers. The individual component stage efficiencies are a function of pressure, temperature, phase compositions, flow rates, physical properties, mechanical tray design and dimensions as well as kinetic and mass transfer parameters'

Any help gratefully recieved

Hi ADB

I think that you be best to ask Aspen about this, as it is very specific to their software package.  They have extensive technical support and I am sure that they would be able to help you.
