why cracking produces alkene and hydrogen

in my textbook it only states that cracking of alkANE produces alkENE and Hydrogen, but I don't understand why hydrogen could be produced !?!

If it's forming an alkene a double bond is formed so 1 hydogen is lost from each side of the double bond = H2
