Mass %

Calculate the mass percent composition of sulfur in Al2(SO4)3.

What I did was make a racio  sulfur/over amy of aluminum sulfate

3/ 342.17 * 100 = 0.8768
then I converted to grams and realized how dumb I am for not realizing I had the answer -_-

answer is 28.12%

It's MASS percent, so having that "3" in the numerator is incorrect.  But YES there are 3 sulfurs in the compound.

All you need for this is the periodic table and the equation for mass percent.  Your book will have this equation.  If you can't find "mass percent" then look up "percentage composition".  Same thing essentially.

your answer is correct but the method for calculation is below
3*mass of sulphur atom / total molecular weight and then multiply with 100
