Last 2 Staff Writers

(1/1)

Mitch:
We have picked up our last 2 staff writers for the website. Long time member Awk will be initially discussing, I think, chemical education. AWK is the GOD of online chemical education and we are very honored to have him writing for the website. We also wish him well at his new job at Gdansk University of Technology. Our second writer will be discussing how the elements on the periodic table got their names, and we all look forward to reading how those crazy scientist came up with those funky names. That brings the total of staff writers to 4, and we'll be stoping there, unless given good reason not to. ;)

We recently submitted this website to the Journal of Chemical Education(http://jchemed.chem.wisc.edu/), as a resource for Chemical Education and chemistry educators. I'll let you know if we get approved and added to their reviewed list of Chemistry Websites.

vanisaac:
Hey, my name is Van Anderson, I will be writing about the etymology (word origin) of element names for this site.  I'm going to be doing this in atomic order, so be prepared for articles on hydrogen literally meaning "born of water" and on Helium being named for the sun.  This will all be coming next week - my spring break and access to a couple of good research libraries.

Mitch:
Sweet, I look forward to them. I'm already excited. :)
