Comparing acidity of 2 complexes
« on: September 24, 2005, 02:20:25 AM »
[Fe(H2O)6]3+ vs [Fe(H2O)5(OH)]2+

Which is more acidic? The 1st one.

I am confused with using which approach to explain it.

I thiught the hexaaqua comples had a pKa similar to regular water?
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
3. Forum Supports LaTex

I found it from a book, it depends on the charge density of metal ion.
