Calulate Kp for each of the reactions and predict whether reactants or products will be favored.

(---------->) = equilibrium

The original equation given is the following; 2 COF2------> CO2 + CF4
Kp= 2.2*10^6

The equation they asked us to solve for was; 2 CO2+2 CF4--------->4 COf2

What I did was since the equation was not being reversed I new that it would be in the form of (2.2*10^6)^n

However I do not understand how N is obtained. The n value for this equation is -2, and im unsure how it was aquired.

Also how would we be able to tell whether or not products or reactants are favored

I know that products are favored when Kp>1

so would it be safe to say that in this case if the kp is <1 reactants are favored?

thank you

Brandon

I do not understand why you are to calculate the Kp if the Kp is given? Are you sure it does not just ask you to predict if the reaction is product or reactant favored as written?
