acids and water
« on: June 15, 2011, 01:18:26 PM »
I am trying to work out the chemical equation of HNO2 + H2O and am getting confused as HNO2 is a weak acid and it doesn't dissociate fully. So presumably some stays in the solution but surely H2O needs to be in the 2nd part of the equation too. I also feel H+ and OH- needs to be aswell! Arghhh  thanks for any *delete me*

Acetic acid is very well discribed in books or the internet, with nitrous acid it is at least the same. You need the pKS value of the dissociation.

You need the pKS value of the dissociation.

I guess you mean pKa. If I understand the situation correctly pKs is used in Germany only and will be not understood by most CF users.
