sodium nitrite oxidizes hydrogen sulfide
« on: July 13, 2011, 08:14:42 AM »
sodium nitrite could oxidize hydrogen sulfide(H2S) to sulphur and other compounds. But it seems like the reaction between NaNO2 and H2S is a litter bit slow than expected. So,are there any methods to improve or accelerate the reaction?Or adding some additives to improve?Someone say that polysulides could work.Could anyone explain? Thanks!

You can mix sodium nitrite with potassium nitrate.  This will create an eutectic salt mixture.  You can then melt the salt mixture, making it molten.  Try bubbling the H2S through the molten salt.
