A nice extension from Cotton's quadruple bond. Link to article can be found here, again apologies for those without access.

Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.

Nice. Very nice.
I didn't even know quadruple bonds existed. I guess since the first one was discovered, research in multiple bonds like these ones has exploded...I wonder how long it'll be until they develop that penultimate Sextuple bond, eh?

Quadruple bonds can exist between, AFAIK, two rhenium atoms.

12e- centers. huh... Those chromiums ought to be really labile. And I can't imagine the Cr-Cr bond distance is very short. Must be some big, unreactive R groups... Oh well, scrap that thesis proposal!
