Overpotential and rate of reaction
« on: September 06, 2011, 01:43:20 PM »
I am confused about whether the relationship overpotential and rate of reaction depends on different case. When I take a look on Tafel equation, I know that the greater the overpotential , the greater the current density(and also the faster the reaction rate). However, in my lecture handout, it says that If we can minimize overpotential , the reaction will occur faster. Can anyone help me to clarify the related concept?
