BALANCING EQUATION
« on: October 04, 2005, 04:07:53 PM »
What is the sum of the coefficients when the following equation is balanced using the lowest, whole numbered coefficients?

Given eqn: B2O3 (s) + HF (l) --> BF3(g) + H2O (l)

My Balanced eqn: B2O3 (s) + 6HF (l) --> 2BF3(g) + 3H2O (l)

a. 8
b. none of these
c. 15
d. 11

Is the answer none because the sum is actually 12?

Thanks.

Thanks. I almost put 11 as the answer because I forgot about the 1 in front of  B2O3!
