titration
« on: September 19, 2011, 01:05:02 PM »
The question on my the exam was:
Create titration curve for titration of sodium carbonate with HCl. Describe titration and write equations for pH at important titratin points.

I have a questiona:

How can I calculate pH and wich are all important poinst?

Important points are initial (before titration) 50% of the first protonation, 100% of the first protonation (first equivalence point), 50% of the second protonation and the second equivalence point.

Ok. So the firt point(start point) is just pH od sodium carbonate.

What are equations for pH for firs and second equvivalent poins?

There are no simple equations, but the calculation procedure is explained on the pages I linked to. I am not going to repeat it here.
