pV work problem?

50g of liquid water is electrolyzed to generate hydrogen gas and oxygen gas at 298K and 100kPa. What is the total pV work associated with this proocess? (Assume ideal gas behaviour)

Please explain step by step. I am confused..

What is formula for work?

Can you write reaction equation?

Well the formula for work is W= - pV
and the reaction in this case is:
H2O --> 2H2 + O2

But I don't know how to put things together..
I did my calculation using W = -pV and ideal gas law formula and got -6866J but the answer is -10306J

Please help..

1. From the chemical reaction, can you determine the heat of reaction from the heat of formation of products and reactant?

3. If still cannot get the right answer, post your detail calculation
