De Broglie Equatio
« on: September 26, 2011, 04:19:51 PM »
okay, so I am trying to conceptualize the de broglie eqaution but i get stuck at understand where the last part is derived from. So i understand that hv = mc^2 , then hv/c = mc = p, however the last part is lamda = h/p how does mc = p get to lamda = h/p?

thanks in advance

Well, because c=lamda*v, v/c= 1/lamda
then, h/lamda=p
and rearrange to give h/p = lamda.

Hope it helps
