an easy question about filtration
« on: October 08, 2011, 09:02:38 AM »
Hello everyone

Actually, It's a little bit embarasing for me to ask this easy question....

When we do a filtration, we usually remove a few part of first filtrate (especially if we need the filtrate)...
Why?

Thank you so much for the answer

regards

When you say "remove" do you instead mean that you "discard" the start of the filtrate?  Possibly because you don't want it contaminated with something from the filter paper.  You might try washing the empty filter paper first.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

Yes, that's what I mean, discard.
Thanks for the reply Mr. Arkcon  :)
