Velocity & Parallel Reaction
« on: October 13, 2011, 03:03:07 AM »
Reactant A transforms itself to two different products B and C with rate constant k1, k2 in turn.

How much will activation energy of reaction be different if k1/k2 = 10 at 10oC and k1/k2 = 0.1 at 40oC ?

Sb help me to solve it

Do you know what equation relates rate constant, temperature and Activation energy?

i think the general equation is :
k = k0.e-Ea/RT

with k0 is the specific constant for reaction

i dont know how to use it in parallel reaction  ???

sure activation energy of parallel reaction B  :rarrow: C is sure more than other because on increasing temp rate is increasing more than first in second.

For reaction 1

k1 = k01.e-Ea1/RT

for reaction 2

k2 = k02.e-Ea2/RT
