Thorium --looking for good sources of info
« on: May 25, 2004, 01:26:37 PM »
Hi,
I am doing an extra credit project on Thorium.  Right now I am just looking for some good sources of info, good web sites and the like.  Thanks

webelements.com? They usually have a lot of background info. You can start at our own periodic table, but I'm not sure how far scratch has gotten on it.

Take a look at the Chemical Rubber Company (CRC) Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, any edition.  Under the 'elements' section there is a lot of general information about Thorium.  Also check the Merck Index for some references about it, and Cotton & Wilkinson's Advanced Inorganic Chemistry for some more advanced material.  Greenwood and Earnshaw's Chemistry of the Elements also has a pretty good background on it.
