Osmotic Pressure
« on: October 18, 2011, 03:22:07 PM »
I'm currently writing up a report on a reverse osmosis project but I've hit a real road block  :(
Osmotic Pressure (Graph) = 15 Bar
Osmotic Pressure (Theoretical) = CRT (Concentration * Gas Constant * Temperature)
=> 17.02600958 mol/L * 0.0831447 Bar.L/K.mol * 306.15 K
= 433.3928158 Bar

1. I was told to put the temperature into kelvin
2. my concentration is based on: 99.5 g/100ml of water
=> 995g/L
=> 995/58.44 mol/L

3. From the units I already had i then started looking for the right value for the Gas constant

I have to compare the 2 osmotic pressure values from the system I used but that theoretical value is way off! it should at least under 55 Bar.
