Not really.

g/mol is unit of the molar mass.

the others are units of contents.

so there is no way to do it? is that what you are saying. because thats the question on my homework sheet or more specifically it says:

Given that the RMM of the drug is 360g/mol, convert your answer into the unit of:

mol%
g/dm3
mg/ml

They didn't give you any other information? Like the volume of the solution the drug is dissolved in?
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.

Hi there im abit stuck on a similar question too, basically you have to work out Concentration of drug in the original serum in units of mM i worked that out to be 0.00512 mM, then after that it says Given that the RMM of the drug is 360g/mol, convert your answer into units of:
____mol%

____g/dm3

____mg/ml

im abit stuck on this bit, could anyone give advice on how to do this thanks

I guess mM means milli molar. So it is 0.00512 mM = 0.00512 mmol/l

With the molecular weight you can calculate the others.

i got 0.053mM ...

so 0.053 would be equal to 0.053 mmol/l

but i still dont understand how i would convert this into

mol%
g/dm3
mg/ml

@rtm - similar? thats almost the same. do we go to the same uni by any chance?

im not entirely sure what they mean by mol%  although i may have a vague idea of how to work that one out.

how about the other 2? how do i work those out?

You have the concentration in mmol/L, and you want to convert to g/L (which is the same as g/dm3). Hint: use the molar mass. Once you have it in g/L converting it to mg/mL should be straightforward.

is g/L (grams per litre) the same as mol/L(moles per litre)

No the two are not the same, if you want to convert moles to grams you need to multiply by the molar mass. The relationship is m = n x M where m = mass, n = moles and M = molar mass.

oh i see!!!

so is this correct?

Converting 0.053mM into g/dm3:
0.053 x 360 = 19.08 g/dm3

also to convert g/dm3 to mg/ml do i divide it by 1000000? or 1000? or neither?

never mind I get it now >.<

after i get the mass I divide by 1000 to get g/dm3

and g/dm3 is the same as mg/ml

Yeah exactly, you need the units in moles first, 0.053 mmol = 0.000053 mol. Then you multiply by the molar mass to get 0.01908 g of the substance.
