How to convert concentration to molarity units and find density

From what I've found, household vinegar contains 5% acetic acid and 50.0g acetic acid per 1000mL vinegar.
Acetic acid is CH3COOH which has a molar mass of 60.0g/mol, correct? 24+4+32?

50.0g x 1mol/60.0g=0.83M

First question, is this correct?
Second, how do I find the density of the solution in units g/ml?
I thought density was d=m/v and that would be 50/1000=.05 as the density but everywhere I saw online said the density of vinegar is 1.01.

Help please?

Also, is CH3COOH the systematic name?

Yes that looks fine.

You need to also account for the mass of 1000 mL of vinegar solution not only the 50 g of acetic acid.

Not sure what you mean by this. Systematic name is ethanoic acid although I am sure acetic acid is also acceptable by IUPAC since people use it all the time.

Okay, thank you. I don't understand how to account for the mass of the 1000mL of vinegar. So .05 is the density of the acetic acid? Would the density of the vinegar solution be 950/1000=0.95 since the remaining solution is 950mL?

The only way to find the density of vinegar would be to weigh your 1000 mL. Or to look it up. As far as I know, there isn't a good way of calculating density that does not go through mass and volume.

I found that the density is 1.01 g/mL, but I need to be able to show my work.

The density of the acetic acid can be worked out if you knew the volume of the 50.0 g sample, you can't just divide 50 by 1000 since it is no longer pure acetic acid.

No because what you have is 50 g of acetic acid dissolved in 1000 mL of 'vinegar' solution. I guess the density of the vinegar excluding the acetic acid would be quite close to and slightly higher than that of water. If you were to make a rough approximation and say that the density of the vinegar solution excluding acetic acid is 1 g/mL then the total mass of 1000 mL of the solution would be 1000 g. You then add 50 g of acetic acid so the massof the solution becomes 1050 g. I don't know how much the volume changes after the addition of acetic acid (perhaps you could measure it) but if we make another approximation and say that the volume remains at 1000 mL then the density would be 1050/1000 = 1.05 g/mL.
