Fire Resistance/prevention
« on: January 19, 2012, 01:11:01 PM »
Hello all,

I am making a paper about Fire Resistance/prevention. It is about fire extinguishers, fireproof doors, Fire blanket, etc. I looked in the liberty but there was nothing about the chemistry behind these objects. Also on the internet is not much information, only sales information.

Who can help me? Does somebody know some good website? Does somebody knows what sort of chemicals in fire extinguishers or fireproof doors are? Please help me.

Fire extinguishers, fireproof doors,  and fire blankets all work on different principles, so you have to take each one individually.  And Wikipedia definitely has an abundance of text on how they work:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_extinguisher  There are references on that page, to government sources of information.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
