Examples of each type of Glycosidic bond?
« on: January 22, 2012, 05:16:31 PM »
O-glycosidic : maltose?
N-glycosidic : ATP?
C - glycosidic: ?
S - glycosidic: ??

Do glycosidic bonds have to involve the anomeric carbon binding to O-O, O-N, O-C, or O-S?

No, an X-glucoside is a glycoside in which the anomeric carbon is bonded to an X atom (where X is O, N, S, C)

Your choices of maltose and ATP are good examples for O- and N-glycosides. For S, try searching for "thioglycoside". For C-glycosides, these crop up in antibiotics - try searching for C-nucleosides
