Mechanism of this reaction
« on: February 17, 2012, 11:59:35 AM »

I just came to know the products of the reaction but could not work out any mechanism. Any help is appreciated.

What are the important functional groups in your starting materials and what are the important functional groups in your reagents? How might those functional groups behave when they come into contact?
Individual results may vary

Have a look at Paal-Knorr pyrrole synthesis.

I could identify the functional groups there but I'm not able to predict the nature of action of the reagent. How does it react or what part of it is actually active during the course of reaction?

Have a look at Paal-Knorr pyrrole synthesis.

Now it is clear after seeing this. Many thanks!
