Column Issues

I have recently been working on metal clusters in a research lab.  For one particular reaction I can't seem to get anything on the column without it decomposing and/or gettin stuck to the column (silica or florisil). Sublimation is out of the question and  the impurities are inseparable by recrystallization. Can anyone elaborate on their experiences with columns and organetallic complexes -maybe offer some alternatives or suggestions?
