I hope the expertise of the forum can help me. I am writing a long fiction piece in which one of the characters owns a successful lighting company. One of the minor plot points in this piece is that the character's lighting company goes bankrupt when it is discovered that one of its light bulbs makes people feel woozy and intoxicated.
In order to make this part feel authentic, I was wondering if you could help me with some details about what kind of chemicals / chemical reactions in a light bulb could make a person feel woozy / disconcerted, or intoxicated? If I had some basic ideas of where to start I could alter the "why" and "how" of the story (maybe the light bulb breaks and that's how people get exposed to the chemicals, or maybe it's a result of heating?)
Any details would be much appreciated.
I thank you in advance for your expertise!
