Reaction between clinkers and carbon dioxide
« on: March 22, 2012, 09:37:05 AM »
Hello (:

There is/are question/s that I am still not sure about. It is all about cement. Let's say the situation is that in manufacture of Portland cement, gypsum is needed to regulate the setting. This is due to the sulphate ions it has which would react and form ettringite.

So here, I am trying to replace gypsum with other set retarders with aim to form ettringite-like mineral. Theoretically, if I use a combination of carbon dioxide and carbonated water, would it work?

Thank you.
