Are all group 2 sulfates the same colour or do they vary?

Yes, all group II sulfates are white. Sulfates in general are white, except for many transition metal compounds. For example, copper(II) sulfate is blue as a pentahydrate, as an anhydrate it is some greenish off-white color if I remember correctly.

You can easily check your hypothesis in texbooks or in internet.
