"Molten" potassium bromide
« on: April 11, 2012, 10:42:15 PM »
Find the half-reactions that occur for the electrolysis of molten potassium bromide. What is the molten word suppose to tell me? Is it trying to imply that this is not an aqueous solution?

Molten means liquid. The question is asking for the electrolysis of potassium bromide in the liquid state.

No water, heated till it melts. For KBr that means over 734 °C.
