What does a 0.5% solution mean?
What is the % concentration of your picric acid solution?

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I have 13g in 1000 ml picric acid solution (13%). I have to prepare 2% sodium carbonate in 0.5% picric acid solution.

You did not answer my questions. 13g picric acid in 1000mL is not 13% but 1.3%.
A percent solution is the number of grams of a substance dissolved in 100mL of a solute.
Perhaps now you can tell me what you must do to make your 2% sodium carbonate solution!
Please also realize that when you add the carbonate it will react with the picric acid to give the sodium salt and CO2.

If I am right I have to add 35.8 mL of the original picric acid solution to 2 g Na2CO3, and I have to add 100 mL with water. I am preparing it for picric acid saturated filter papers.

Thank you

If you add 100mL water you will have a total volume of 135.8mL. That is not a 2% solution of carbonate.
So you need to add less water, i.e. 64.2 mL.
