Ascorbic Acid
(1/1)
Davie:
I am interested in the chemical reaction of ascorbic acid with chlorine. Also need to know if a water solution of ascorbic acid is stable or does it break down over time?
Yggdrasil:
Aqueous solutions of ascorbic acid are not stable. Generally, if I need a solution of ascorbic acid for an assay, I will store it at 4 C for no more than 3 days. Solid ascorbic acid can be stored at room temp, but it should be stored in a brown bottle to prevent light from degrading it.

::)thanks for your response. been looking for this for some time. any idea if there might be a chemical stabalizer for ascorbic acid?
