I need to find liquids that offer convective properties that are better than water.

I want to build a sterling motor but use liquid as the medium instead of air.

Any suggestions?  Cold water sinks, Hot water rises... I need this to be magnified somehow.

Are you sure you don't need the gas' ability to expand when building an engine?
