Tower Packing for Removal of SO2
« on: June 16, 2012, 08:28:12 AM »
I am doing a research about the structured packing for the removal of SO2. Can anyone tell me which is the most suitable structured packing for the removal of SO2 between Mellapak Type 250Y,Mellapak Type 500 and Mellapak Type BX? Please show me the comparison (advantages, disadvantages, operating cost, etc)between three of them if available. The information on the web is very limited.

Thanks.

http://www.sulzerchemtech.com/en/portaldata/11/Resources//brochures/mtt/Structured_Packings_April_2010.pdf Gives a lot of basic information about all of these packings. Is there some specific question this type of advertising doesn't answer?

Thanks for your reply.
I knew the website but it doesn't provide enough information about the Mellapak Type 500Y. So, I feel quite confused, because I don't know the main differences between Mellapak Type 500Y and Mellapak Type 250Y.

How many theoretical plates do you need? Operating Pressure / Temp.?  Flow rates? Allowable pressure drops? These are some parameters you need to specify before choosing packing.
