Back Titration Help please!!
« on: December 06, 2005, 03:43:15 PM »
Hello, I'm currently doing a titration lab right now and trying to figure out some unknown organic acids.  I tried to dissolve some solid acids with distilled water so i can get my titration going but the acid doesn't seem to dissolve.  I know that I have to do a 'back titration' but I'm not really sure what that is or how it is done.  I'm using 0.5M NaOH to titrate the acid. Please give me some tips and some methods of how to do a back titration. THANK YOU! ???

Back titration of acid - dissolve in known excess amount of base, titrate excess base.
ChemBuddy chemical calculators - stoichiometry, pH, concentration, buffer preparation, titrations.info
