I am currently attempting the following problem:
A compressed-gas cylinder contains 1.00 x 103 g of argon gas. The pressure inside the cylinder is 2050 psi at a temperature of 18°C. How much gas remains in the cylinder if the pressure is decreased to 650 psi at a temperature of 26°C?
My attempt:
I don't understand how there can be a decrease in the amount of gas, by decreasing the pressure. If the question was phrased such that it asked how the volume had changed instead, then I would know how to solve the problem, using the Ideal Gas Law. But how would decreasing the pressure have any effect on the amount of gas present? Isn't it the same gas sample?
Thank you in advance!
