Solvent equilibrium

(1/1)

Tom:
If a membrane separates a pure solvent from a solution.  The membrane is permeable to solvent molecules, but not to solute molecules.  The levels of solvent are initially the same.  Can anyone tell me which of these statements would be correct?

The osmotic pressure of the solvent is greater than the solution.

Solvent molecules pass only from the solvent to the solution side.

Solvent molecules pass only from the solution to the solvent side.

The concentration of the solution will increase.

Mitch:
Solvent molecules pass only from the solvent to the solution side.
