I would like to know why Calcium chloride does not react with dilute nitric acid? Please explain.

What should happen with it? Both will be ionizes. You will have Ca2+ , Cl-, H+ + NO3- in the solution.

Why can't Calcium chloride react with Nitric acid to give you Calcium nitrate & hydrochloric acid?

Maybe because HCl is stronger than nitric acid? Check the pKa values.

It puzzles me why nitric acid can react with calcium carbonate but NOT calcium chloride.
I hope some one can enlighten me...

What happens to carbonate during the reaction?

When nitric acid reacts with calcium carbonate, it will produce calcium nitrate, carbon dioxide & water.

My question is why nitric acid does not react with calcium chloride??
