Does fructose react with potassium permanganate?
« on: October 21, 2012, 09:47:26 PM »
If both glucose and fructose (which were hydrolyzed from sucrose) were in a solution and were to react with acidified potassium permanganate, would only the glucose reduce the permanganate, of would the fructose contribute as well?

Permanganate is a strong oxidiser. All organic material will be oxidised. Doesnt matter what kind of sugar you have.
