Synthesizing and Molarity
« on: October 25, 2012, 10:44:15 PM »
I have a couple questions that I am stuck on because I cannot find where it talks about synthesizing in my book or notes and also I am just plain stuck on the 2nd half of my molarity question. Please help if you are able.

Tell how to synthesize each compound.
A. Ni(OH)2
B. MgSO4
C. KNO3
(Even if you don't want to give me the answers just explain what I need to do to get the answers would be great because like I said I cannot find anywhere in my chapter or notes on how to do this problem.)

the next question is How many grams of NH4C2H3O2 are needed to make 750 (7.50 x 10 ^2) mL of 0.225 M NH4C2H3O2...
 for this question I got

mol= 0.75(0.225)= 0.16875 mol NH4C2H3O2
0.16875 mol NH4C2H3O2 x 77.086g NH4C2H3O2\1 mol NH4C2H3O2=  13.01 g NH4C2H3O2 ???

Then it says describe how to make 500.0 mL of 3.6 M acetone (C3H6O)??-----how do I set up this problem?

For the first question google the compound, a lot of ways guide to Rome. Example Neutralization, Precipitation by using alkaline compounds, etc.

2. question is correct. 13 g of ammonia acetate has to dissolved in 750 ml water.

3. question like number 2. Calculate molar mass of acetone, then calculate the mass, put it in a measured flask and add water to get 500 ml.
