Well, What I know is that methyl orange is used to determine the concentration of NaOH(aq) in the textile-chemical industry.

Why would methyl orange be used? I always thought NaOH(aq) is a strong base- so bromothymol blue or methyl red (also phenolphthalein) may be more suitable. I would have also thought that if determining pH (to determine concentration etc. through titrations) was needed to be done in industry it would be done with a pH meter.

Thanks.

It is one of the components of universal indicator solution (and thus pH paper).
