Calculate final temperature after ice has melted in water
« on: November 17, 2012, 08:41:19 PM »
1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data

Calculate the final temperature (once the ice has melted) of a mixture made up initially of 75.0 mL liquid water at 29 degrees celsius and 7.0 g ice at 0.0 degrees celsius.

2. Relevant equations
c: heat capacity of water
miceΔHf + micec(Tf-0°C) = -mwaterc(Tf - 29°C)

3. The attempt at a solution
So basically I will do some algebra to solve for Tf
and it come out to be 19.7 deg C

Can someone help me confirm the set up above? or confirm the answer if possible.

Thanks very much.

19.7°C looks OK to me.
