Titration of polyprotic acid
« on: December 06, 2012, 01:53:37 PM »
Hey guys. I have to found out the following:

You have to produce 1,0 L of a 0,02 M polyprotic acid. Concentrated phosphoric has a concentration of 15 M. Calculate the volume of the concentrated phosphoric, which shall pipetted into the production of phosphoric acid solution. Anyone who can help? ( See the attached file )

OK, this questions title is the titration of a polyprotic acid, but the question you're asking is how to prepare a solution from a more concentrated one.  Can you beging to work on this part of it?  Monoprotic, diprotic, triprotic, it doesn't matter, a 0.02 M solution is the same.  If the question asks for a 0.02 N solution, or a 0.02 M hydronium solution (or H+, but either is very unlikely), then the problem becomes difficult.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

Exactly that's my question though i don't know how to do it. I'm not used to this kind of titration but rather base and acid titration.

I don't see any titration here. Only dilution.

Well my assignment says its a titration. How would you solve it if it were a dilution?

Sorry it's not a titration, my bad.

Sorry it's not a titration, my bad.

I was  thinking

M1V1 = M2V2

But I could be wrong.
