Converting Units

(1/1)

gunzerox:
Hi, I'm having trouble with this problem

Using the definition 1in = 2.54cm and 1yd = 36in (both exact), obtain the conversion factor for yards to meters. How many meters are there in 3.54yd?

This is what I did, I believe the conversion factor for yards to meters is: 1yd = 0.9144m (exact)

My next step:

3.54yd x 36in x 2.54cm = 327 x 10^4cm
     1       1yd       1in

Am I doing this correctly? if, so whats the next step to converting it into meters?

Mitch:
How many centimeters in a meter.

mike:
Why not just use your conversion factor? It is in metres already so your answer will end up in metres.

Winga:
e.g.

1cm x 1m/100cm = 0.01m

gunzerox:
OKay I got it, thanks for the help.
